They were the better side on the day, even though we missed some glaring chances and hit the woodwork twice, the most important statistics in football isn't your possession or shots on goal or the number of corners, its how many times you have put the ball in the back of the net. And we lost on that one - Fairplay to Benfica, and we wish you good luck for the rest of the tournament.
I'm gutted, but not disappointed. There are reasons to look back on this season and feel a sense of accomplishment, specially if we do finish ahead of Man U on 2nd.
Last year, were shite in the league and finished 5th. You wouldn't have thought before the start of this season, even with the 5th European Cup, that this team will be challenging for no.2, will have the one of the meanest defences in England and the strongest midfield in the Premier League. But here we are.
Our problems lie right at the front.

Have you ever watched Feyenoord? There is a corner of the ground with English flags? (probably because its cheaper to travel and get in than to pay <£50.00 just for ticket.)

Absolutely gutted, I had hoped that we could go all the way to Paris and then brag about winning it from the very first qualifying round. We are a better team, but why can't we get that ball into the back of the net!? Having said that to lose 1-0 we could argue over, but 3-0 is us well beat. I don't think Benfica will get past the last eight, but I'll put some money on Lyon v Arsenal in the final, I reckon Barca will go out to a "lesser" team in the semi's.

Rafael Benitez is responsible for going out this year. This is what happens when you do things wrong. Not hiring back Michael Owen has finally come back to bite us. If Peter Crouch is a professional football player then i guess he must be good for something...but not for Liverpool. Damn it!!! it's so clear I don't know why nobody realises that. Cisse and Crouch must go. Morientes must go back to real Madrid because they owe him that, he was their star striker and he had to leave because of Ronaldo. If Morientes had been at Highbury yesterday things would have been different, Real Madrid is in his blood and what they needed was someone like him, just like we needed Michael Owen.
Benitez...you messed it all up I hope it's true that you are sad because so are they rest of us...

I enjoy the fact that the ignorant world has disregarded what we have done. Continue to doubt us. I had Liverpool pegged to take it all again, considering what you had accomplished until you met the little engine that could. The fact that we scored 3 against ya makes me feel good about our chances. Barca and AC are probably the 2 to beat but Barca has to get by a solid small team that has played as a team from beginning to end. Last I checked Barca had 1 Champs Lg trophy, Benfica have 2 but plz, plz continue to disrepect the glorioso.
the underdog tag can work wonders, as we found out last year. Keep hoping they write you off before every game. Good luck!
First of all, I've to recognize that if Liverpool had scored half of their oportunities in the first half of the game, now we will just think in our league and portuguese cup. These time, the lucky star had stayed with my club Benfica. I loved too the Liverpool fans supporting your team! You are fantastic! Really fantastic! In Portugal, when Benfica or other club is loosing, the supporters "just" call names to the players...
Now we have Barcelona! In my best dreams Benfica can defeat Barcelona, but on reality I think that Benfica's season on Champions League will be over with Barcelona...
