Don't cry for me, Argentina
Two Michael Owen goals in the last few minutes were enough to give England a 3-2 victory over a strong Argentina team. An absolutely fantastic Wayne Rooney had earlier equalised Hernan Crespo's opener. Bring on the rest of the world, eh, folks? [Match Report]

England And Argentina In Passport Security Mix-Up
One of the most memorable games for me, from the recent past, is the England v Argentina game at Japorea 02. I watched it with my mate Chris at ODEON Liecester Square in an invitation only event, massive screen but no beer unfortunately. The atmosphere was electric and it was tense as f*ck specially towards the end when Seaman made a string of saves as England tried to defend David Beckham's goal.
That was followed by getting lashed at a nearby pub, lunch at TGI fridays and then some more booze.
Back to last night's game, watching Owen back to his best is a bittersweet feeling. Its great for England, yes, but it kinda hurts a little as we could really do with someone like him at Liverpool.

really. it was a treat watching both the teams play!
hey sarah, how you been? u dont visit that often anymore :(
like the new pics btw ;)
Most entertaining friendly I've ever seen. England rarely seem to take friendlies seriously. Until yesterday.
I woke up this morning wondering how exactly we(Newcastle United) managed to land one of the worlds best strikers recently. Something do with money apprently not one other team could match our bid. Watching him at close hand I'd say he is worth 4-5 times what Liverpool paid for Crouch never mind double. It's a shame for Liverpool fans that their club could'nt find a few million more to buy Owen instead of Crouch. I'm not moaning though. :)
Domn't get me wrong I'm not slagging Crouch just Owen is worth 4-5 times as much in my opinion.
Seaman!!!!??????
I HATE friendlies cuz no one seems to be taking them seriously (with the exception of last night ofcourse) and they're usually just a waste of time.
I agree though, owen right now seems worth the £17m NUFC paid for him. At the time LFC probably thought that buying him for twice the amount they sold him for doesn't make financial sense. Selling him cheap was a big mistake.
Oh well, good luck to the lad.
Is it true that he has a get out clause in his contract whereby he can leave after just a year, on the cheap?
Liverpool had no choice but to sell him cheap as he only had a year left on his contract and he did'nt look likely to sign another.
So it was a case of get something for him now or he goes for free in a years time.
With regards to his get out clause at Newcastle I'm not sure although it has been rubbished by Fat Freddie and Michael himself.
He recently bought a helicopter to make the 40 minute journey from his home in Chesire, I think, to training at Newcastle everyday. That suggest he's probably not here for a long haul like God(Shearer)
How ever long we keep him is better than not having him at all in my opinion. His presence and hopefully 2-3 new signings in January should make the difference between being also-rans and qualification for Euirope. Fingers crossed.
yeah, sorry 'bout that. i will from now onwards. have been a lil in touch with blogger a lil. how ve you been. you gave me a pretty surprising shock the other day when i read 'bout your engagement. really very happy for you :)
P.S, thankoo.
i think its about time newcastle should start competing with the big clubs, you're right abuot owen leaving scenario, i just don't think any manager would like to pay more than double for a player he's sold after just a year.
sarah_A- thats a hilarious pic, checkout this one, even funnier
